While his contribution to Indian cinema may just be a little too hard to give justice on paper, the honours continue to alarm us of how big a star he is. Just a day after being honoured with the second highest civilian award in the country, living legend Amitabh Bachchan has expressed his gratitude with all his heart and humility. At the age of 72, an honour like Padma Vibhushan has been graciously welcomed by the megastar who believes it to be the ‘generosity of judges’.

Big B came out to thank for the big honour and blogged about it in detail. “The Government of India has decorated me today with the highest Padma Award of the country, the Padma Vibhushan… I have no words to express my gratitude to the powers that be and am most humbled and overwhelmed by the generosity of the people that decide or sit on judgment on this,” he posted on his blog. The cinematic definer then added how humbled and fortunate he feels on being honoured with such an award. “In one family this must be perhaps the only reference or case in the country. I feel blessed and honoured, fortunate and humbled, overwhelmed and submerged by the affection and love of the people,” he wrote.

While this comes as yet another feather to his cap, he has taken over his own father who was also a recipient of the Padma Bhushan award. Mr. Bachchan is now credited with the highest of honour in the family since wife Jaya Bachchan and daughter in law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have also won the Padma Shri award.
