Actor Pankaj Tripathi, known for playing grey characters in films like ‘Gangs of Wasseypur', ‘Omkara’ and ‘Singham Returns’, has broke his silence over negative roles. The actor reported that he doesn’t like it, when people praise him for such roles as he is alike to those characters in a real life. Tripathi has also shared that in the personal life, he is quite similar to Sadhya Ji - a character he played in Neeraj Ghaywan's directorial 'Masaan'.

IANS quoted the star as saying, "I like playing positive characters more. I don't like the negative ones as I have to put in a lot of effort because I'm not that person in real life”.  Pankaj further informed, "I don't like when people appreciate my negative roles because my ideology is totally different from the negative characters that I have played".

He continued, "If you ask me what kind of a person I'm in real life, then you should watch 'Masaan'. The role that I played in that film is exactly what I'm in my personal life". He stated, "An actor evolves through every character that he plays onscreen. In every negative role that I play, I try to find positivity in that. "In every negative role, I try to show the character's human side because nobody is a villain in real life and nobody is a hero. Everybody is living in a grey area". So, the fans soon might see the artist playing a positive role.
