Her bare-back act in Vikram Bhatts recently-released Hate Story may have stirred up a storm and even led to a ban on the posters of the film in her home state Bengal, but actor Paoli Dam, 31, is unperturbed. Its a story of a woman who uses her body to take revenge, so there had to be some skin show. Weve just tried to be honest with the audience instead of beating around the bush, she says, adding that she had to lose 10 kilos for the film. My role needed a slender look, she says.Paoli, who started her career in 2004 with a Bengali TV soap, has worked in many critically acclaimed Bengali films, all of which saw her in similar bold acts. Last year, she faced criticism for doing a full monty in Sri Lankan filmmaker Vimukthi Jayasundaras film, Chatrak, the posters of which have also been banned in Bengal.The actor says that although she comes from a traditional joint family, her parents are cool with her work. My parents have no issues with my bold acts, she says. Next, Paoli will be seen in a Bengali film, Elar Char Odhyaya, based on Rabindranath Tagores novel Char Odhyaya.
