Reports furnished earlier that due to ill-health veteran actor Pran would not be able to make it to the 60th National Film Awards ceremony to accept the Dadasaheb Phalke Award personally. But in his absence it was expected that someone from his family would attend the event to collect the award. But none from his family was present there to receive the award on behalf of 93-year-old Pran.

The actor who has acted in more than 400 movies as villain, hero and even a character artist, was invited to accept the highest civilian award in the field of cinema. After films like Madhumati, Ziddi and Ram Aur Shyam, Pran became a figure synonymous with villain character at its best. But he also managed to win accolades for Upkar as Malang Chacha, a fabulous character role played by him. Other films like Victoria No.203 and Zanjeer are also some phenomenal milestones in the career of Pran.
