Priyanka Chopra’s father dies of cancer

This is perhaps the saddest day in Bollywwod actress Priyanka Chopra’s life as she has lost his father forever. Ashok Chopra breathed his last at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital today. He was suffering from cancer since a long time and got admitted to hospital in critical condition a few days ago.

He was diagnosed with cancer in 2005 while Priyanka had been shooting for Bluffmaster. Since then hospital visits became almost regular for Ashokji. Earlier this year, he along with his spouse Madhu Chopra accompanied Priyanka to the TOIFA Awards in Vancouver, Canada. For now, all projects of Priyanka have been put on hold, including Mary Kom’s biopic.

The actresses’closeness to her father was quite well-known as she used to pay tributes to his father in her interviews. She also called her evolving singing career her "dad's dream." After releasing her first single My City, Priyanka said, "My dad was not all that happy when I became an actor and won national awards, like he is today." A tattoo has been also visible on her wrist with the phrase "Daddy's Li'l Girl," with which she also describes herself on her Twitter account. Ashokji used to be a medical practitioner with the Indian Army. May his soul rest in peace and God may give all strength to Priyanka and her family.
