“Raju Hirani is a genius, I envy him” – Karan Johar

“Raju Hirani is a genius, I envy him” – Karan Johar

Guess who’s next in admiring Raju Hirani from the roof top? Well it’s Karan Johar. Though Karan has time and again been praising the Munna Bhai director, he this time around came to an extent of saying he can never be what Raju is and that he envies him. According to Karan, Hirani is one filmmaker who always comes out with the most genius ideas and you cannot help but envy the man for having that ability.

In an event where Karan Johan was present, the producer, director and now an actor spoke how as a filmmaker Raju has narrated stories that have come out with a strong message. "I've been pitted against everyone and I feel envious, not jealous. I am envious of Hirani. I've never managed to do what he does. His movies have genious ideas. I don't have the ability perhaps. I would love to make those kind of movies. Hirani has strong screenplays. I hope I get such screenplays," he said with words of utmost admiration for Raju.

Though having been brought up in a cinematic family, Karan has spent almost all his lifetime in cinema and debuted with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998. With films like Kabhi Khushi Kabh Gham and My Name Is Khan to his credit, Karan is easily one of the best filmmakers the country has seen. Though, Raju easily surpasses everyone with credentials just too warm to ignore. In a brief and limited filmmaking/editing career, Raju has achieved a status that not many filmmakers get to enjoy. Be it a Circuit from a Munna Bhai or a Rancho from 3 Idiots, each of Raju’s character has a amicable appeal. With all due respect to Johar, we second Karan’s thoughts on Raju and put him as the best filmmaker the nation has right now, because we are most certain of the fact that Raju will never make a Student Of The Year. With PK just round the corner, let’s see if the magic of Hirani works again.
