RANKED: Rakesh Roshan’s 8 Best Films Of All Time

RANKED: Rakesh Roshan’s 8 Best Films Of All Time

From having given India its first alien film to introducing our Indian kids to their first amazing superhero, there’s one man in the craft of cinema who’s wishfully experimented at every junction of his directorial journey. We don’t know Rakesh Roshan as the actor who we probably saw in a few of 70’s-80’s movies, we know him in the looks of a filmmaker who has time and again proved why he is considered a true master at helming the most challenging projects ever made.

Every film that Roshan helmed starting from late 80’s, he made sure the film was remembered for some or the other special element. While he made Rekha a resentful widow who reinvents herself to take revenge, he created India’s most watched reincarnation action drama of two brothers through Karan Arjun. While he made sure he was the first to effectively introduce us to an alien in 2003’s Koi Mil Gaya, he didn’t hesitate to turn it into a successful trilogy.

Rakesh Roshan without mincing words into exaggeration is a legend when it comes to giving India some of its most liked movies.

While most of his work is loaded enough to challenge one another, we thought of ranking his 8 best films:

    8 – Krrish 3

RANKED: Rakesh Roshan’s 8 Best Films Of All Time

You watch Krrish 3 and it gives you a feeling that India has truly arrived at the international podium to challenge Hollywood biggies. While this third edition of Koi Mil Gaya trilogy appeared to be the most underwhelming product of the lot, the film by no means was a downer for it brought as much glory as any movie could. The style through which it forayed into the big league was unique in its own way.

    7 – Khoon Bhari Maang

RANKED: Rakesh Roshan’s 8 Best Films Of All Time

The 1988 woman centric thriller drama starring Rekha, Kabir Bedi and Shatrughn Sinha was something that set up a fabulous ground for filmmakers to experiment with female driven movies. However, Khoon Bhari Maang was way beyond that. The engaging story of a mother who reinvents her life to revenge all the wrong doings that have happened to her, is alone an idea that won people all over.

    6 – Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai

RANKED: Rakesh Roshan’s 8 Best Films Of All Time

Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, the film that gave our industry one of its ever shining icons Hrithik Roshan, became a sensation when it came out in 2000. Of course its chartbuster music was one of the major players for its triumphant run at the box office, but the magic it spread through its lead cast and treatment made it one of the most successful films back then.

    5 – Kishen Kanhaiya

RANKED: Rakesh Roshan’s 8 Best Films Of All Time

The male version of 70’s classic Seeta Aur Geeta that later got remade as Chaalbaaz, Kishen Kanhaiya is one film you can’t get tired of watching. It had just about every ingredient that needed to entertain the masses back then in 1990. Starring Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Amrish Puri and more, the film was an intriguing tale of twin brothers separated at the time of their birth. Kishen Kanhaiya is considered as one of his most watchable flicks.

    4 – Krrish

RANKED: Rakesh Roshan’s 8 Best Films Of All Time

The film that came as a much needed gift for the kids in our country, Krrish was India’s first superhero film to entice the audiences. Wonderfully thought with an intriguing vision, the film worked on theories that were ahead of their times and yet convinced us of its brilliance. From its supreme visual effects to a wonderful set of performances by Hrithik, Naseeruddin Shah and Rekha, the film is indeed one of the highlighting prospects in Roshan’s career.

    3 – Koyla

RANKED: Rakesh Roshan’s 8 Best Films Of All Time

While it couldn’t really set the box office on fire, the larger impact of Shah Rukh Khan starrer Koyla could only be felt after it got out of theaters. As Rakesh was experimenting with each of his passing movies, he came up with this unique product with a mute hero going rebel for the sake of his love. The action filled drama is one of his most accomplished works to date.

    2 – Koi… Mil Gaya

RANKED: Rakesh Roshan’s 8 Best Films Of All Time

Possibly Hrithik Roshan’s best performance to date, this feel good yet an experimental alien film in India is widely regarded as a trend setter in the country. It went beyond the realms of conventional ideas and dared to speak something different back in 2003 without letting the essence of entertainment fade away. It still doesn’t go without a watch when it airs on TV.

    1 – Karan Arjun

RANKED: Rakesh Roshan’s 8 Best Films Of All Time

The film that got Shah Rukh and Salman Khan together for the first time on the silver screen, Karan Arjun became a blockbuster on its merit. The reincarnation, the revenge and the emotions that Karan-Arjun wrapped itself around was something magnanimous and it only brought a scintillating effect on screen. Karan-Arjun should indeed be considered as Rakesh Roshan’s best work to date.

Agree with this? Trust us, Hrithik Roshan is only the second best thing we can thank him for after his cinematic contribution!
