Ghayal Once Again: Sunny Deol Hasn’t Lost Out On His Huge Fan Appeal Yet

Ghayal Once Again: Sunny Deol Hasn’t Lost Out On His Huge Fan Appeal Yet

If you thought Sunny Deol was 20 years too late to toss up the sequel to one of his most memorable movies, wait till you watch Ghayal Once Again in real.

While the film is laced with striking action and pretty much a ‘2016 kinda look’ , what’s still stuck in the 90’s is Sunny Paaji’s heart. According to MJ Smita Vyas, Ghayal Once Again doesn’t have enough power to keep the audiences hooked up to screens and is too loud for the viewers to handle. “Everyone is inspired by Sunny Paaji to overact, shout, cry, rant rave and hyperventilate to the edge of reason,” she wrote.

Smita further concluded by saying that Ghayal Once Again should best be avoided for too much of everything it boasts off. “Avoid this movie like you would an oncoming cement crusher or prepare to get crushed under the weight of melodrama, boredom and hysteria”, she added.

However, for all the Sunny Deol’s diehard fans out there everything isn’t as bad as it looks. The film after having registered a rocking opening (mostly in single screens) this morning, was able to woo a lot of action lovers. MJ Mohit, who had the pleasure of experiencing this movie in a packed single theatre said that there are moments in Ghayal Once Again enough to keep the heart pumping. Mohit particularly seemed awestruck by the much talked about chase sequence in the movie and termed it one of its kind. “I was surprised by what turned out to be the biggest strength in Ghayal Once Again. Written and directed by Sunny Deol himself, the film features one particularly long and quite effective action-chase sequence, the kind you don’t see often in Bollywood films,” Mohit wrote.

Looking at the early trends, while it’s too early to judge the fate of the film, what comes clear is that Sunny hasn’t lost out on his huge fan appeal yet. Too loud for a niche audience, pumping fun for action lovers, Ghayal Once Again may not be a compelling ‘Once Again’ watch, but let’s be honest, have we not missed Sunny Deol sending chills down a villain’s spine by that captivating yelling of his?
