Richa Chadda to return to Cannes Film Festival

Richa Chadda hopes to make a return to the Cannes Film Festival, after her latest project Masaan has been selected for screening in the festival's Un Certain Regard section. The 26-year-old actress made her debut at the Cannes Film Festival in 2012, with Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur. In Masaan, Richa Chadda will be seen essaying the role of a Varanasi girl in the coming-of-age drama, which touches many topics ranging from love, sexuality to child-parent relationship.

Again, like last time around, she hopes to go to the festival with another Kashyap production, which is in partnership with Vikramaditya Motwane, Vikas Bahl and Madhu Mantena. The actress shares her first experience at the festival with Mumbai Mirror by saying, "I was a complete novice then, I didn't even know how to pose for the shutterbugs. I had to sit, starving, through the sixhour long film before Anurag Kashyap and Guneet Monga took us out for a big meal”.

"I was dazzled the first time, this time I'm more equipped to handle the glamour aspect. The producers willing, I'd like to spend more time there looking around, meeting people and partying with my team", she added. When quizzed about the film, the actress remained tight lipped but said, "Masaan is made on a modest budget with no allowances for a personal make-up man or hairdresser. But this is what I work for-passion for cinema".
