Rustom v/s Mohenjo Daro: Which Movie Will Win The Box-Office Clash?

Ladies and gentlemen, it's time! Possibly the biggest box-office clash of this year is happening this Friday and it's time for predictions.

RUSTOM vs MOHENJO DARO

History

Akshay Kumar's Rustom, which tells the story about a real incident of a naval officer, is the A-lister's third movie of the year. His other two movies Airlift and Housefull 3 have both been blockbusters, with both the films entering the 100 crore club. 

Hrithik Roshan's Mohenjo Daro, which tells a tale about the ancient civilisation of Indus, is the star's first film since 2014. 1n 2014, his films Krrish 3 and Bang Bang earned ₹240 crore and ₹175 crore domestically at the box-office. 

What works for Rustom?

Though the movies haven't been relased yet, there is a general consensus that the Akshay Kumar movie will serve better content to the audiences, and usually a better movie comes out on top in such clashes. (Refer: Dilwale v/s Bajirao Mastani)

What works for Mohenjo Daro?

Mohenjo Daro has a better director in Ashutosh Gowariker. Also, Hrithik Roshan hasn't done a movie in two years as compared to Akshay Kumar whose Rustom will be his third. That absence might work in the favour of Hrithik Roshan.

Verdict

Hrithik Roshan is a huge star. Ashutosh Gowariker is a proven director. But those facts won't be able to cover the fact that film has disappointed with its trailers. 

According to analysts, while both films will do well, Rustom will come out on top. Mohenjo Daro will earn above ₹10 crore on opening day but Rustom is touted to do better than Akshay Kumar's Airlift which earned nearly ₹13 crore on Friday.
