Saif Ali Khan may lose Padma Shri honour

The late after effects of the famous scuffle that Chote nawab Saif Ali Khan got involved in, may make him lose big now. The government is reportedly in the process to strip him off his ‘Padma Shri’ honour attributing to a case filed against him alleging him of assault.

Responding to an RTI filed by S C Agrawal, requesting the government to take back the honour from the actor, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs wrote back that the ‘case is being looked upon’, and “the matter is under examination”. The 43 year old actor was conferred the Padma Award in 2010. The whole mess up that the actor is finding himself in, is due to the scuffle he had with a man in a Colaba Hotel in Mumbai somewhere around the release of his film ‘Agent Vinod’ in 2012. The actor was allegedly booked for assault since he punched the man in face and his father in law reportedly. He and his two friends were charged under article 325 and 34 of the IPC. The actor however pleaded not guilty after the charges were framed against him by a metropolitan court in Mumbai.

If the RTI filed leads to him to lose his Padma Shri Honour, not only will it be a huge setback for him but will also come as a larger humiliation to his brand value. Now this is for the system to decide if the actor would end up being on the losing side.
