In what was anticipated to be a record breaking box office spree in all prospects, Sultan has truly lived up to its name and has become the first film of the year to enter the 200 crore club in India. Having thrashed most of the benchmarks set in the record books, the film is now officially the quickest to reach the coveted milestone.

Having made an unprecedented 180 crores in its opening weekend, Sultan was expected to maintain a strong hold on weekdays too. Expectedly so, the film made a solid 15.54 crores on Monday and has officially broken in to the league of 200 crores by Tuesday afternoon. With this, Sultan has reached this figure in a record time of just 7 days while other biggies like PK and Bajrangi Bhaijaan took a day extra.

Going by the trends, it is safe to assume that Sultan will end its first week (extended) in the range of 230-240 crores. This massive figure comes with the fact that this Salman starrer has been equally fabulous in overseas as well. The film has so far made close to 100 crores and is looking to add another feather in its hat.

With Great Grand Masti arriving in the coming week, Sultan doesn’t really have a smooth way to walk over. However, it is still expected to be the first choice of the moviegoers in the second week as well. This also implies that Sultan may have an extra advantage of making into the 300 crore club and just beat PK down and become India’s highest grosser ever. Let’s watch this space for more!
