Sanjay Gupta to wait for Sanjay Dutt for Kaante sequel

Sanjay Gupta says that Kaante 2 is on the cards, but will not happen without Sanjay Dutt. The 45-year-old director tweeted, "Ofcourse KAANTE 2 will happen, but not without SANJAY DUTT, [sic]". The project will only get rolling once Sanjay Dutt, serves his sentence and is released from prison.

The original film, which was released in 2002, focussed on a group of robbers trying to pull off a huge theft. Their plan is undone when an undercover cop is planted as a mole within their group. The movie also boasted of a star cast, which included Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Mahesh Manjrekar and Lucky Ali.

Talks for the sequel have been going on for long, but Sanjay Dutt’s prison sentence is proving to be a major stumbling block. The 55-year-old actor has been imprisoned for the illegal possession of arms during the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts. Currently Gupta is working on his film Jazbaa, which marks the comeback of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
