Actor Sanjay Mishra is excited about his first visit to the Cannes Film Festival, in France, this year. The actor stars in debutant director Neeraj Ghaywan’s film. The movie has been selected for the Un Certain Regard section, at the 68th edition of the festival, which will start on May 13. The film also stars Richa Chadda.

“I feel proud that I will be going to Cannes. It’s a big moment in any actor’s life. I have left it to the director and his team to figure out what I will wear. But I hope to wear a suit, perhaps a tuxedo; I am excited,” says the 51-year-old actor, who has played prominent roles in films such as Ankhon Dekhi (2013), the Golmaal franchise and Dum Laga Ke Haisha.

However, despite having done more than a hundred films, and getting critical appreciation for his acting skills, the character actor is not considered as successful as the likes of Nawazuddin Siddiqui or Irrfan Khan.

Incidentally, they, too, have been to Cannes with their films. But, Mishra isn’t bothered. He says, “I am not competing or thinking about Nawazuddin, Irrfan, Amitabh Bachchan or Naseeruddin Shah. If everyone has the same success graph, what’s the fun? I used to be cast in stereotypical roles, but I was able to prove that I am a versatile actor. Thankfully, I got varied roles that got me recognition from masses as well as classes.”
