Sequel of ‘Son of Sardaar’ to arrive on Diwali 2017

Superstar Ajay Devgn will be seen again playing a Sikh in the sequel of superhit film ‘Son of Sardaar’. The Singham star confirmed the news on Twitter that the sequel will be released during the festive weekend of Diwali in 2017. He tweeted, “Sorry yaar, duniya bekar bina Son of Sardaar! Get ready for the sequel releasing Diwali 2017”.

On Diwali 2012, the release date of ‘Son of Sardaar’ clashed with Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’. Devgn had also filed a complaint with the Competition Commission of India, accusing Yash Raj Films for pre-booking single-screen theatres for ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’. With Eid, Diwali and Christmas weekends being the Khans’ favorite to release their films, it is to be seen if Son of Sardaar 2 gets a solo release this time.

The music of the film was composed by Himesh Reshammiya and was a huge hit. The movie managed to do good business at the box office and went on to gross almost Rs. 1.5 billion worldwide. The film featured Sonakshi Sinha and Sanjay Dutt in the main roles besides Ajay Devgn.
