Shahrukh-Bhansali clash may still happen this Christmas

After Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani endured a schedule delay, it got almost certain the film would only release in 2016. What comes to a major surprise for everyone is Sanjay is still eying a Christmas release and bring the film in 2015 itself. If this does happen, it is going to be an epic clash as Shahrukh Khan’s film with Rohit Shetty is already slated for a Christmas release.

While Rohit and SRK have duly confirmed their film’s arrival this Christmas, Bhansali’s production hangs somewhere in uncertainty. Christmas has always been eyed as a fruitful slot to make money. While it was the record breaking PK last year or the blockbuster Dhoom 3 before that, the vacation time of the year is one window every producer likes exploring. A clash involving a film headed by SRK in all likeliness with Kajol, Varun and Kriti Sanon with a film like Bajirao Mastani that has some sparkling names reading Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, would mean serious business to cinema. However, the clash in a way would shape in as a scrap as one of the two releases will have to suffer.

Interestingly, Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone was also set to be a Christmas release this year but producer Sajid Nadiadwala took the date ahead. The seasoned producer found in the best interest of box office that such big films shouldn’t be carrying a clash. The SRK starrer is all set to go on floors soon and with a filmmaker like Rohit Shetty at helm, it is unlikely the film will miss its deadline. Let’s see if the audience is in for a major collide this Christmas. The last time the two had clashed was back in 2007 when Shahrukh’s Om Shanti Om overpowered Bhansali’s forgetful Saawariya.
