Shankar Mahadevan Undergoes Angioplasty After Suffering Heart Attack

Singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan has reportedly suffered a heart attack on December 6. After complaining of sudden chest pain, the Bollywood music director was rushed to a hospital in Delhi. While his family has chosen to remain mum about the details of his health, several media reports suggest that he suffered back-to-back heart attacks. The National Award-winning singer had to perform in Rajkot and Mumbai but the shows were reportedly cancelled. He is said to be doing fine now.

Shankar has himself announced through Twitter that he is better off now. Mahadevan’s son, Siddharth, has been quoted as saying, “It was mainly due to exhaustion. Dad underwent angioplasty on the first day itself when he was hospitalised. Thankfully, there weren’t any major blockages. He is recuperating well and the doctors said he would be discharged within a day or two”.

His spokesperson has also said in a statement, “Yes he has been admitted to Delhi hospital, he was feeling uneasy and the doctor advised him for an ECG (electrocardiogram) checkup and then asked him to get hospitalised for a couple of days, but he is perfectly fine, and will be back in Mumbai soon. We request to respect the privacy”.
