Sridevi Opens About Her Comments On Getting Jhanvi Married

Recently, actress Sridevi’s comments that she wants her daughter Jhanvi to get married and settle down rather than go for acting left people in a tizzy. The actress was even criticised by people for being so narrow minded. However, the 53-year-old actress took to Twitter to clarify what she exactly meant by the statement.

She clarified her comment by saying that she has been misquoted and that she does not believe that marriage is the ultimate goal of a woman’s life. Sridevi tweeted that though she may have sounded as if she believes that girls are only meant for marriage but that is not what is wanted to say. She further clarified that she wants both her daughters to stand up on their feet and have their own identity. She wants them to be independent and not depend on anyone else. She said that every girl has the right to do what they want and what they want to achieve in life rather than get married and have babies.

She added that she did not disapprove of Jhanvi’s dream of pursuing acting but she did want her daughter to lead a hectic life that comes with acting. She wants her to lead a stable and relaxed life. In an interview with the Mid-Day, Sridevi said that Jhanvi discusses everything related to her career with her and husband Boney Kapoor and they are “aware of every detail of her career.”
