Tanu Weds Manu Returns generates tremendous buzz, mints nearly 40 crores in opening weekend

With the opening reports igniting a tremendous fire of positive word of mouth, Anand L. Rai’s Tanu Weds Manu Returns created a hurricane at the box office. Released on merely 2200 screens across the country, the film performed exceedingly well through the weekend.

After having opened to an expected 8.5 crores on Friday, the buzzing comedy saw a humongous growth on Saturday and earned 13.7 crores on Saturday. The biggest surprise came on Sunday when despite an IPL final in prospect, the film went on to collect 16.4 crores. The unprecedented growth was only significant of one element that spoke the power of positive verdict it got from the audiences. The film has now earned around 38 crores in its kitty and is the second highest opening weekend after Akshay Kumar’s Gabbar is Back.

While the general verdict has obviously come out as something good, it is Kangana Ranaut who ran away with the show hands down. She is all over the film and is being lauded with huge praises. The double persona she has portrayed is fetching her the best results. Tanu Weds Manu Returns is still going strong and is expected to go a long way.
