The Trailer Of The Bengali Film 'Maacher Jhol' Is Pure Gluttony!

Pratim D Gupta had been one of the celebrated movie critics and it was just a few years back that he also started film-making. His film-making journey has been tremendous till now, with his last film, Saheb Bibi Golam, becoming a blockbuster in Bengal.

The man is back again with yet another film and this time it is pure gluttony! And what's more, it is about probably Bengal's most loved dish, Maacher Jhol.

For anyone who has been a Bengali, or is a non-vegetarian growing up in Beengal would know the signifance of Macher Jhol or fish curry. The simple dish is love. It will remind anyone of the affection of your parents who would carefully select the fish and cook it with utmost love. With veggies accompanying the fish, this is nutritious and a regular dish that all Bong households make. And if you chance to have a Bengali friend or if you are a Bong yourself, we don't need to tell you what significance food holds to us!

Pratim D Gupta brings back that love and weaves the story of emotions and relationship around it. Ritwik Chakroborty plays the chef who has left his lucrative engineering career to follow his passion and is a big shot chef. He returns home 13 years later to his ailing mother. He has a task in front of him- to cook the perfect maacher jhol that he had 25 years ago! Will he be able to take on the challenge?

The film also has Mamata Shankar and Paoli Dam in important roles.

The best part of the trailer was when Ritwik's character actually prepared the curry. It is food porn that will instantly make you salivate. And God forbid if you are an NRI Bong, you will have an irresistable craving for this!
