    Akshay Kumar’s Toilet Ek Prem Katha has turned out to be the film Bollywood was waiting for. Its business saw a solid growth on Independence Day. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Toilet Ek Prem Katha collected Rs 20 crore on Tuesday, which takes it total tally to Rs 83.45 crore.



    This prompted Akshay Kumar to post a video on Twitter in which he is thanking his fans and critics who watched Toilet Ek Prem Katha and said spread positive word of mouth. He got so overwhelmed that he started crying by the end of this 2:42 minute video.

    He said, “You would know that for me Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is not just a film but a craze that had become in the past one year that I wanted to discuss in every household the topic of open defecation even if the film didn’t work. Today you have showered a lot of love to this film that it is working at the box-office but it is also doing a huge thing that it is help in eradicating the old traditions of going for open defecation.”



    He also thanked the film fraternity for the support, especially Hrithik Roshan, who was referred to in a joke in the film.

    Kumar further said, “It makes me really happy to tell you that eight-nine months ago in a research report we read that 54% in India defecate in open, but now this 54% has come down to 34% in just eight months.”



    Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, Toilet Ek Prem Katha promoted the Swacch Bharat Mission, and was hailed for its inclination towards a social cause.
