What Harbhajan Singh Geeta Basra Will Wear On Their Big Day

Even though they never officially confirmed their relationship, Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh and Bollywood actor Geeta Basra have been together for several years. They have now decided to tie the knot, and the wedding will take place on October 29, apparently, in Jalandhar, Punjab. As per reports, the wedding functions will take place over a period of five days.

While Raghavendra Rathore is designing Harbhajan’s outfits, Archana Kochhar is in charge of Geeta’s look. “We have designed all the outfits for Harbhajan. We have made six options that he will choose from for the reception, the gurdwara wedding, the sangeet ceremony and the cocktail,” says Raghavendra, adding, “We have used a lot of colour for the designs, with modest classic overtones when it comes to the fall and the feel of the outfits. Getting the right fit was the main requirement.”

The designer, who is known for his classic bandhgalas, says that his team had around six months to design and deliver the clothes. “My team has taken care of all his requirements. We kept him informed about the latest trends. We wanted to go with his comfort colours and fit. Now, we are working on the accessories and the shoes,” says Raghavendra.

While the designer says that Harbhajan might just change the order later, for now, he is likely to sport a dark blue velvet achkan with a little embroidery, which can be paired with breeches or a churidar, for the reception. For the gurdwara wedding, he might sport a peach colour achkan with breeches or a churidar, and a maroon turban. And for the sangeet ceremony, he has opted for an Orange kurta with a black waist coat. “Harbhajan was quite involved in the whole process. He knows the value of style. We have never dressed him before. But it really was a pleasurable experience working with him on this,” he says.

On the other hand, Geeta will sport lehengas for most of the functions. “She mainly wanted lehengas, because she likes the way they flow. We opted for different kinds of embroideries for each event. I have dressed her several times before, so I know what looks good on her. We have used different varieties of silk for her outfits,” says the designer.

Archana reveals that for the wedding, Geeta will wear a traditional red lehenga with gold pita work. For the reception, she will sport an electric blue lehenga with mirror work and sequins. It has a long-sleeved blouse, almost like a kurta. In addition to that, for the mehendi ceremony, the actor has opted for a lemon yellow lehenga with a bit of pink and silver embroidery.
