What? Is Arijit Singh Retiring?

This news might end up shocking many music listeners. The ace playback singer, Arijit Singh, is hinting retirement. Yes! You heard that right. The 29-year-old singer feels that because of the short shelf life of artistes these days, he may retire sooner than people think.

According to Mid-Day, the young singer said, “I don’t think I have a long way to go. This might be my last year. Normally, fresh voices replace (current favourites) every five to seven years in Bollywood.” He further added, “If I work really hard on specific genres, I might be able to stay longer. That way, I can emerge as the only singer who can croon songs of those genres. Maybe that’s how I will survive.”

Despite being the most lauded singer of the present times, Arijit is unaffected by stardom. He says, “I enjoy a quiet life, without much interruption. Over the past three years, I have seen my fan base grow, and I think it’s essential for them to know that I’ve always been someone who refrains from interactions because I enjoy a silent life. With the growth of social media, this, too, becomes difficult.” These days, almost all big budget flicks at least have one song composed by Arijit. Some of his latest songs are from the movies, ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ ‘Dear Zindagi’, ‘Tum Bin 2’ and ‘Shivaay’.
