The singer-turned-actor, who had made her singing debut with the legendary music composer Ilaiyaraaja, recently crooned for him again

Singer-turned-actor Shruti Haasan has sung a track for her younger sister Akshara in the latter’s debut film, Shamitabh, but not many know that the whole affair made the 28-year-old very nostalgic. Incidentally, Shruti made her singing debut with a song composed by legendary music composer Ilaiyaraaja, who has incidentally composed the music for this film too.

    What made Shruti Haasan nostalgic!

“Shruti made her singing debut with Ilaiyaraaja, when she was six years old, for her father’s (actor Kamal Haasan) film Thevar Magan (later remade in Bollywood as Virasat, starring Anil Kapoor). They had teamed up once again five years back for another Tamil film. And now, after all these years, they’ve come together once again, so it was a very emotional as well as an exciting experience for Shruti,” says a source close to the actor, who’s acted in films such as Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji (2011), D-Day and Ramayya Vasthavayya (2013). She recently lent her voice for the song Joganiyan in Tevar. “For this song, Raaja sir has used the edginess of her voice, which is her USP,” adds the source.

The film also stars Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan and south star Dhanush in the lead roles.
