Lagging far behind these top two, Liam Neeson’s Non-Stop got placed at No. 3 with $15.3 million, The Lego Movie came fourth with $11 million and the Bible epic Son of God finished its second week with $9.7 million. Though 300: Rise of an Empire has done impressive business in its opening weekend, it could reach nowhere near its predecessor, 300, which opened with a stunning $70 million in March, 2007. 300: Rise of an Empire was released in 3D in many theatres as well as on 343 Imax screens. Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. expects this film to be a global blockbuster as it has already taken in $87.8 million from 58 foreign markets. On the other hand Fox's distribution head Chris Aronson told about the success of Mr. Peabody & Sherman, “I think it worked as a family film and a general release.” ”Normally there's a a ‘nag factor’ with family films, where the kids say they want their parents to take them to see it,” he said while adding, ”But this time, with the great reviews and the nostalgia factor, there was no resistance from parents. They wanted to see it too.”
