    Actress and humanitarian Angelina Jolie has been named an honorary dame in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list. She made an entry to this list for her contribution towards the British foreign policy objective to end sexual violence in conflict.

    The actress said, “Working on the Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative and with survivors of rape is an honour in itself. I know that succeeding in our goals will take a lifetime and I am dedicated to it for all of mine.” Angelina Jolie was last seen in a fantasy film titled Maleficent. Though, she portrayed a villainous role in the movie, there was a scene in which the man she loves, cuts her wings. Angelina explains, “We were all very conscious of it, it was in fact rape, it was clear. She was with a man, she is violated and of course it is a Disney story but she goes through a period of losing herself and her femininity and her motherly qualities, then she is able to remember them again, in her case, because of a child.

    Angelina Jolie is known for her humanitarian work and won recognition for it. She met with refugees across the world and helped them economically. She has constructed around ten schools in Cambodia and funds the Maddox Chivan Children's Center. She received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in November 2013.
