Amnesty International and Chickenshed Theatre recently teamed up for an event that had a performance by more than 600 children. 42-year-old actress and UNHCR Special Envoy, Angelina Jolie, spoke to these children and urged them to stand up and support elders in the fight for universal human rights. The actress was present at the event through a video link.

Inspiring the children and educating them on their rights, Jolie started by saying, “Children, I need you. We all need you. We adults, we are a little lost these days, we want you to think that we have it all under control, that it will all be fine. And it will be”. She stated that if the children can master the rules that and mentioned in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, they can use those laws to fight back.

“It means you can grow up to be citizens who together can complete the work that my generation will leave unfinished and fight for universal human rights for all children”, she added. Angelina uses her fame for a great humanitarian cause. She helps child refugees in war-torn countries, an idea that first originated while she was filming ‘Tomb Raider’ back in 2001.
