Batman v Superman Sores High At The Box Office

Zack Snyder directorial Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has opened with a $170 million weekend at the domestic box office. Shattering the previous record for the best March opening set by Hunger Games with $152.5 million, the movie starring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill has pooled in $424 million worldwide. The animated flick Zootopia is still going strong with its $23 million running on its fourth weekend.

The recently released sequel to the 2002 film, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 has opened with $18 million over the weekend. The movie stars John Corbett, John Stamos, Nia Vardalos and Rita Wilson. Running on its second weekend, Patricia Riggen’s Miracles from Heaven pooled in $9.5 million. The overall earnings of the film have reached $34 million worldwide.

The Divergent Series: Allegiant has also been running on its second weekend and has earned $9.5 million as well. The movie starring Jeff Daniels, Ansel Elgort, Theo James and Mekhi Phifer has earned $118 million worldwide since its release. It has been directed by Robert Schwentke.
