Tyler Perry’s ‘Boo! A Madea Halloween’ and Tom Cruise’s ‘Jack Reacher: Never Go Back’ have dominated the weekend box office. What’s surprising is that ‘Boo! A Madea Halloween’ surpassed Jack Reacher, taking the weekend box office cake. The movie saw an opening of $27.6 million domestically. It has been written, produced and directed by Tyler who is also the main lead.

The Jack Reacher sequel secured the second spot with its $23 million opening. Directed by Edward Zwick, the cast for the flick includes Cobie Smulders and Aldis Hodge, along with Cruise. Also released on the weekend was ‘Ouija: Origin of Evil’, directed by Mike Flanagan. Bringing in $14.06 million domestically, the worldwide earnings for the flick hit $21 million.

Ben Affleck’s ‘The Accountant’, which was on the top of the list last weekend when it released, has fallen down three places. The movie brought in $14.02 million, quite close to Ouija’s earnings, over the weekend. Worldwide, the movie has reached $58 million. Running on its third weekend, the Emily Blunt starrer ‘The Girl on the Train’ brought in another $7.2 million, sending its worldwide earnings to $104 million.
