Box Office Battle Royale
Jurassic World retains its top domestic box office spot for the third straight week. Over the weekend of its release, the movie made $54.2 million, just above the contender for second place, Inside Out, which grossed $52.1 million. Anticipated to be this summer’s biggest comedy, Ted 2 couldn’t live up to the expectations, making $32.9 million which was quite low compared to its prequel’s $54 million.
Ted 2 claims the number three spot in the list of top 10. Followed by Max and Spy, making $12.2 million and $7.8 million respectively. Dwayne Johnson starrer San Andreas came in sixth with its $5.3 million. Rick Famuyiwa’s Dope was seventh with $2.9 million followed by Insidious Chapter 3 which made $2 million.
The ninth and tenth spots were held by Mad Max: Fury Road earning $1.7 million and Avengers: Age of Ultron making $1.6 million. Pitch Perfect 2 and Love & Mercy are at number eleven and twelve with $1.38 million and $1.31 million respectively. These weekend estimates were provided by Rentrak.
