While it has been a disappointing weekend for Stephen King adaptations, with The Dark Tower opening to largely negative reactions, September promises to make things better. It, King’s story about a maniacal clown who terrorises a small town, will be released soon, but while we wait, here are two TV spots that will scare the living daylights out of you.

Both spots are about 30 seconds each, and in just half-a-minute, they paint a terrifying picture of what to expect from the movie.

Based on King’s 1000 page plus novel, the film is expected to be the first in a duology. Bill Skarsgard stars as Pennywise - the clown, while Jaeden Lieberher leads the band of kids who take him on.

The novel had already been adapted into a TV miniseries in 1990. The movie adaptation has been directed by Andres Muschietti, who previously helmed Mama. The film’s first trailer broke the record for most views in the first 24 hours, with over 197 million hits. A viral marketing campaign which included stray clown sightings, creepy children with balloons, and missing persons ads was subsequently launched.

It is scheduled for a September 8 release.
