Captain Marvel will be the first female-led movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and as such it needs a talented actress to play the role and bring the character of Carol Danvers to life. According to the reports, Actress Brie Larson is Marvel Studio’s first choice to play Captain Marvel. Comicbook.com reports that during a recent panel at Wizard World Philadelphia, Chris Evans announced that he completely supports Brie Larson as the potential frontrunner for the role of Captain Marvel, and that he hopes she lands the role.

"I just heard about that," Evans told the crowd of the Larson rumors. "I really hope that happens. I love Brie Larson. We did a movie together back in '09, we did Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. I cannot say enough about Brie Larson. I think she is phenomenal, and I really hope that happens."

However, in an interview last year she revealed that she had never heard of the character. "Isn't that a boy? So would I be playing a man?" she told MTV after being informed that fans wanted her for the role. "I was like, 'This is interesting! I'm kind of into it'. I thought I was forever going to be stuck playing female roles, but I'm down to play Chris Evans. People want me to play this? OK, that's good to know. I guess I gotta start reading the comic book," she added. No director is on board for Captain Marvel yet, although Elizabeth Wood is rumoured to be involved.
