He just proved all the pessimists and sceptics wrong who are of the view that film industry has no future. To share his valuable views Nolan took to the Wall Street Journal to pen down an op-ed which focussed on the future of films. He thinks that movie studios, producers and theatre owners’ hard work are required for this prediction to come true. Nolan’s write-up says, “The public will lay down their money to those studios, theaters and filmmakers who value the theatrical experience and create a new distinction from home entertainment that will enthrall — just as movies fought back with widescreen and multitrack sound when television first nipped at its heels.”

The filmmaker also opined that, though the big screen content can be watched on any device nowadays, the future of movies mainly depends upon the theatrical experience of the viewers. That’s why he thinks movie theatres should be bigger and grander which will also include more expensive projection systems. The recent efforts to revive the movie industry were duly rejected by Nolan describing them as “cost-cutting exercises disguised as digital ‘upgrades’ or gimmickry aimed at justifying variable ticket pricing.” If the movie-going experience needs to be changed, a huge innovation is highly required. Nolan also showed his confidence in fresh talented filmmakers who would help restore the industry. These directors include Lars von Trier and Quentin Tarantino. Nolan shared, “It's unthinkable that extraordinary new work won't emerge from such an open structure,” adding, “That's the part I can't wait for.”
