Colin Firth Is Now A Citizen Of Italy
Actor Colin Firth is on top of the moon as his request for Italian citizenship has been granted. Yes, the 57-year-old actor is now a citizen of both Britain and Italy. Colin had applied for Italian citizenship last year.
Expressing his happiness about the same, he said, "A connection with Italy has existed in my family for more than two decades now. I was married there and had two children born in Rome. My wife and I are both extremely proud of our own countries. We feel that we've made a gift of that to each other."
Firth married Italian producer Livia Giuggioli in 1997 and has two sons with her, Luca, 16, and Matteo, 14. The Before I Go to Sleep actor said, "Our children have been dual citizens since the beginning. We never really thought much about our different passports. But now, with some of the uncertainty around, we thought it sensible that we should all get the same."
He also stated that his wife applying for a British passport. He further said that he feels great of joining his children who already hold dual citizenship. Though he has been granted Italian citizenship, but Colin said that he will always be British.
