Confirmed: F. Gary Gray To Helm Furious 8

Speculations were rife about who will helm the eighth chapter of Fast and Furious franchise. Now, director F. Gary Gray has confirmed on Twitter that he will direct Furious 8. Gary Gray wrote on Twitter, “Cant ask for better partners than Vin, Neal & Universal. Excited to bring u the next chapter of the #FastFamily saga”.

Other names doing the rounds for the same included Louis Leterrier, Will Eubank and Adam Wingard. Furious 7 was helmed by James Wan, who decided not to direct the next installment. This led the makers contact Justin Lin, who has helmed the previous four Fast and Furious films but due to his prior engagements with Star Trek 3, he rejected the offer. Now, F. Gary Gray has come on board to direct the eighth chapter.

Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Elsa Pataky, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and Lucas Black will be seen reprising their roles in Furious 8. The film is slated to release in April 2017. Other information pertaining to the film has been kept under wraps.
