Daniel Craig confirms James Bond return, and Twitter has mixed feelings about it

After months of speculation, Daniel Craig on Wednesday confirmed that he would be returning to play James Bond one last time in a new film, due in theatres in November 2019.

In an appearance on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Craig said, “I have been quite cagey about it. I have been doing interviews all day and people have been asking me and I think I’ve been rather coy. But kind of felt like if I was going to speak the truth I should speak truth to you.”

“I think this is it. I just want to go out on a high note and I can’t wait,” he said.

In 2015, he had famously said that if he ever played Bond again, “it would only be for money.” After wrapping up Spectre, he was asked if he would play James Bond again. “Now? I’d rather … slash my wrists,” he had replied. “No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.”

Speaking about the outburst, Craid admitted that he should have shown more grace. “Instead of saying something with style and grace, I said something really stupid,” he said.

Craig has appeared in four James Bond movies - Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre.

Twitter reacted fittingly to the news, months in the waiting:
