On June 12, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl fell of the stage and broke his leg, during a performance in Gothenburg, Sweden. He told the crowd, “I think I just broke my leg,” he added, “I'm going to go to the hospital, I'm going to fix my leg, but then I'm coming back and we're going to play for you again”. He came back in an hour with a cast on his leg and continued the show. Grohl returned to the stage for the Fourth of July concert.

The concert was held at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington D.C. The date marked the bands 20th anniversary, for which Grohl performed while sitting on a throne surrounded by guitars and amps, with his leg kept upright. “A funny thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago” he said to the attendees, I fell off the f*****g stage, So then I went to the hospital ... had surgery... [but I said] I'm not missing this [the DC] show for the world. Nothing is impossible!”.

The band performed fan favourite songs including ‘Everlong’, ‘Best of You’, ‘Learn to Fly’, ‘Breakout’ and ‘Monkey Wrench’. They also sang Queen and David Bowie’s ‘Under Pressure’. In the rock world, Grohl is known as Mr Nice Guy. The former Nirvana drummer promotes campaigns against drug use among other social revolutions.
