Evil Dead grosses $30.5 million worldwide, $21.2 million enters Jurassic Park 3D club

It was a huge weekend at the Hollywood box-office as the remake of the 1981 horror flickEvil Deadhas earned much more than expected. At the domestic front,$26 million business has helped it end at No. 1 at the box-office while $4.5 million business has been done in the overseas market, thus making it to $30.5 million in the opening weekend worldwide. The remake was produced for $17 million. The fourth title inEvil Deadseries, directed by Fede Alvarez, revolves around five friends who stir a demonic presence when they visit a cabin in rural Massachusetts.

On the other hand, the 3D re-release ofSteven Spielberg'sJurassic Parkalso garnered a huge response at the theatres and made a business of$18.2 million in the domestic scenario. It has also excelledTitanic 3Dwhich opened to $17.3 million domestically. Internationally,Jurassic Parkgrossed $3 million from seven territories for a total opening of $21.2 million. IMAX has emerged as the highest grosser in theJurassic Park’s record-breaking returns.
