Ewan McGregor set to direct 'American Pastoral'

Ewan McGregor will make his directorial feature film debut in Lakeshore Entertainment's ‘American Pastoral’ in addition to starring with Jennifer Connelly and Dakota Fanning. The script was panned by John Romano and will be produced by Lakeshore’s Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi.

As previously reported, it is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Philip Roth and centers on a high school athlete (McGregor), who marries a former beauty queen (Connolly). He ends up taking over his father’s business, but his perfect life is shaken when his daughter (Fanning) becomes a radical revolutionary during the Vietnam War. Production will start in September in Pittsburgh. McGregor’s next film is ‘Last Days in the Desert,’ which was shown at Sundance. He was also recently seen in Mortdecai with Johnny Depp and August: Osage County.
