    Excalibur actor Nigel Terry dies at 69

    Nigel Terry who is best known for his performance as King Arthur in John Boorman's Excalibur, has died at the age of 69. The Excalibur star died of Emphysema, reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Terry made his film debut alongside Peter O’Toole and Katharine Hepburn in The Lion In Winter.

    Born in Bristol, the actor studied at London’s Central School of Speech and Drama. Terry essayed the role of a 17th-century Italian painter in Caravaggio, which was helmed by Derek Jarman. Terry and Jarman, also collaborated on The Last of England, War Requiem, Edward II and Blue. Terry was also heavily involved in theatre, which included productions at the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal Court and the National Theatre.


    Terry also appeared in the films Deja Vu and Feardotcom. He played a Trojan priest and adviser to O’Toole’s King Priam in Troy, starring Brad Pitt. He also appeared on television in ABC’s ‘90s hit series Covington Cross, in which he essayed the role of the knight Sir Thomas Grey.
