Finnish Director To Helm The Biopic On The Author Of LOTR And The Hobbit Series

Finnish auteur Dome Karukoski is known to be one of the most successful directors of Finland. The filmmaker has been selected to helm a biographical movie on renowned writer J.R.R. Tolkien. The project is said to be under development since 2013.

The author is widely known for his novels based in the time era of middle earth. His novels led to the inception of The Lord of The Rings trilogy and The Hobbit trilogy. The script of the movie will be penned by David Gleeson and Stephen Beresford. The storyline of the movie will place an emphasis on the author’s life as he discovers friendship, affection and aesthetic pleasure, while being surrounded by a circle of outcasts at school before the beginning of World War I in 1914.

The author also served in the British armed forces from 1916 to 1920. The title of the movie has not been revealed yet. The biopic will be bankrolled under the banner of Chernin Entertainment and will be distributed by Fox Searchlight.
