    George Clooney to be honoured with Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film

    It has been announced by British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles (BAFTA Los Angeles)on Tuesday that Hollywood actorGeorge Clooney will receive the 2013 Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film.

    The special honour will be given away to the actor on November 9 at the Britannia Awards where he will enjoy an exclusive spotlight moment. His next releaseThe Monuments Men, a rescue operation of artwork from the Nazis, is due to open in December by Sony.He is also the producer behindthe awards contender August: Osage County and will be seen in Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity, which will inaugurate the celebrated Venice Film Festival in August.

    BAFTA Los Angeles chairman Gary Dartnall said in a statement, "George Clooney is without question one of our industry's true icons.” He added more, "His work has captivated audiences from all corners of the globe, and BAFTA Los Angeles is proud to be celebrating his immeasurable contributions to our craft." Clooney will join the club of the previous winners like Warren Beatty, Jeff Bridges, Tom Cruise, Daniel Day Lewis, Robert De Niro, Clint Eastwood, Tom Hanks, George Lucas, Sean Penn, Steven Spielberg and Denzel Washington.
