George Clooney, Grant Heslov to produce Pioneer remake

Actor George Clooney might be getting older for acting as per his recent comment but there are many other ways to stand in the industry. According to reports, Clooney is planning to produce the English remake of Norwegian thrillerPioneer, along with Grant Heslov under their production house Smokehouse Pictures. Sony Pictures are in negotiations to get the remake rights of the same.

Pioneer, originally directed by Erik Skjoldbjærg, starred Aksel Hennie, Wes Bentley and Stephen Lang in pivotal roles. The film was set in early 1980s during Norway’s oil boom and revolves around a man, who together with his brother, goes into a deep sea and tries to get to its base. During this, his live gets in danger. The remake is still in talks and a confirmation from George or Grant is awaited. Heslov and Clooney are presently into The Monuments Men, while the latter is featuring in a project namely Tomorrowland.
