    Gilmore Girls star Edward Herrmann dies at 71

    Actor Edward Herrmann, who played the father of the “Gilmore Girls” and as the head vampire Max in Joel Schumacher’s 1987 vampire classic The Lost Boys, has passed away at the age of 71 due to complications from his previously-diagnosed brain cancer.

    Born on July 21, 1943 in Washington, DC, Herrmann was a graduate of Bucknell University and started his career in theater. Herrmann started his career in the early ’70s with roles in classic films like The Paper Chase, The Great Gatsbyand The Great Waldo Pepper, as well playing Franklin D. Roosevelt in a series of “Eleanor and Franklin” TV movies for which he received two Emmy nominations. He also did voice work, recently doing the voice-over for the Stratton Oakmont commercial in "The Wolf of Wall Street."
