Director James Gunn, responsible for the 2014 film Guardians of the Galaxy, has stated the sequel will be a more sentimental take. According to Digital Spy, the flick will focus on fatherhood and some of the characters from the prequel. The first draft for the forthcoming movie was completed in June.

The 44-year-old writer, director claimed, “It’s both a bigger movie and a smaller movie because we focus more intensely on some of the characters. We get to learn a lot more about fathers in the second movie, and we focus a lot on that”. Gunn also revealed that the Star-Lord’s father present in the movie will not be similar to the one present in the comics.

The sequel will have Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper play their respective characters. Filming for the movie will start in February 2016. It is expected to be released in May 2017.
