Heartbreak for Boyhood, loses out on many

Heartbreak for Boyhood, loses out on many

Richard Linklater must be feeling robbed at the moment! His ambitious and well worked film Boyhood mostly remained out of the winning league at this year’s Academy awards. After having won almost all major awards this year, the film couldn’t achieve what in the end matters the most, ‘an Oscar’.

Made through a journey of 12 long years, the only category Boyhood was able to fetch an award in today was the best supporting actress that Patricia Arquette took home. Besides that, it was all dark for this absolutely brilliant film. While most people would have bet on Birdman and Boyhood splitting the best director and best film award, it was rather a setback as Alejandro González Iñárritu took both these trophies home. The sheer brilliance and impact of a film like Birdman was huge but the Boyhood crew must be having a moment of disbelief as the moment. After handing over all major recognition to them this season, snubbing Boyhood right at the peak must have hurt, no?
