It was Hugh Jackman’s birthday on October 12, Saturday and this was a special one for the Hollywood hunk as he threw a birthday party himself inviting 4,500 guests. The exception was all the guests had to pay to attend the party.

On Saturday, when the actor turned 45, he spent the entire day at Hollywood's Dolby Theatre, where he crooned, performed and told stories for One Night Only. It was a benefit concert which helped raise $1.85 million for the Motion Picture & Television Fund. After the show Jackman said, "This is probably the most narcissistic way to spend your birthday.” Assisted by a 17-member orchestra, it was a different show by Jackman full of personal stories, a few film clips and selections from classic Hollywood musicals. He also talked about his family, sang a song as a tribute to his wife and shared some fond memories of his native Australia through pictures and music.

Jackman said he has performed this birthday solely for Motion Picture & Television Fund as it offers "that unconditional helping hand you get in a family." This organization provides health care and other services to the workers and retired persons in the entertainment industry. The audience featured names like Cybill Shepherd, Bryan Singer, Darren Criss and songwriter Carole Bayer Sager. The two-and-a-half-hour show ended with an auctioning of an electric Fiat, a pair of Wolverine claws and two undershirts which Jackman wore during the night's performance. The shirts were auctioned for $11,000 each.
