    The Hunger Games team to reunite for East of Eden’s film adaptation

    A deal has been finalised by Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer over the film adaptation of John Steinbeck’s novel East of Eden which will reunite The Hunger Games director Gary Ross and lead actress Jennifer Lawrence.

    The book is told to be Ross’ favourite one and it has been heard that the director is planning to film the generational story in two parts. Earlier the novel was adapted to the 1955 Elia Kazan-directed film which starred James Dean and Richard Davalos. Ross is planning to cast Lawrence as Cathy Ames, the cold and ruthless mother of the boys and separated wife of the farmer.

    The story was first acquired by the studio and Imagine in 2004. Then Steinbeck retold the Cain and Abel story in a modern way, making it one of the most favourites on the best seller lists.Universal, Grazer and Rossare still working over the minute details of East of Eden. Ross will commence with East of Eden’s making post he is done with Peter and the Starcatchers for Sony and Disney. On the other hand Lawrence will be seen next in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and the David O. Russell-directed American Hustle.
