Idris Elba to star in racing docuseries

Luther and Thor star Idris Elba has signed on to front a new Discovery Channel show that will focus on the science of racing. In the four part series, Elba will try to master rally driving, street racing, power boating and aerobatics while looking at the science, engineering and history of the sports.

Idris Elba, said, "I'm taking on the toughest racing challenges of my life for this new Discovery TV series. Along the way I'll meet extraordinary individuals, spectacular machines and hear amazing stories of how far people go to satisfy their love of speed. The extreme challenges will take me right out of my comfort zone as I compete against the best on land, water and in the air." The series will air in mid-2015 in the UK and will then be rolled out across Discovery’s 220 territories including the US. . The show will be filmed in the U.K., Florida and California.
