James Cameron may helm ‘Terminator’ franchise again

James Cameron may helm ‘Terminator’ franchise again

There’s no surprise in the fact that the two most loved Terminator movies have both been directed by the instigator man James Cameron. The genius director who helmed the Arnold Schwarzenegger starrers back to back in the 90’s, has hinted that he might again take in his hands the rebooting of this popular franchise. "I haven't really thought that far ahead yet. I've got plenty of time to think about it. It might be fun to completely re-invent the franchise," he said.

James had directed the first and second part of the movie, which were both loved by the audiences in large numbers. While the third one couldn’t really create the same magic, Arnold Schwarzenegger is now set to make a terminator comeback with series extender ‘Terminator Genisys’. When asked about what his thoughts on the upcoming movie were, Cameron said, "I'm hoping it's great. I'd like them to get it right, and based on the script that I read there's a pretty good chance that it could.”

The Titanic and Avatar director also expressed his equation with the terminator brand and told that it doesn’t bother him personally, not being involved with the franchise and that it was a decision considering the emotional aspects. "It's like being a grandparent, the kids come over and you can send them back! When I walked away from the franchise, I had to do it with the sense that I can invest in emotion. To me, it's all upside, because if it's good, it's good for my friend Laeta (writer Laeta Kalogridis) and if it's not good? It doesn't bother me personally," he said.
